What is NZQA Category 1 and why does it matter?
Category 1 is the highest rating awarded by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority to private training establishments. It's awarded after comprehensive external evaluation of educational performance and self-assessment capability. Fewer than 10% of PTEs achieve Category 1 — it means your qualifications from ITS carry the highest credibility with employers and further education providers across New Zealand.
Can you train our team at our workplace?
Yes — on-site delivery is one of our most popular options for employers. We bring the tutor, all learning resources, and all assessment materials to your workplace anywhere in New Zealand. We handle scheduling, a single group invoice is issued via Xero, and you receive completion reports automatically when learners finish their course.
How long do courses take?
It varies by course. Short H&S and licensed premises courses can be completed in a day or a few sessions. Foundation Skills programmes typically run over 20 weeks. Correspondence and online courses are self-paced. We'll recommend the right structure when you enquire — all delivery is flexible around your commitments.
What happens if a learner doesn't pass?
We offer a free re-sit for all learners. We're invested in every student's success — our tutor support doesn't stop at submission. If additional support is needed, we work with learners to ensure they have the best opportunity to achieve their unit standards.
Is ITS ACE funded?
Yes. ITS delivers Adult and Community Education (ACE) funded programmes through TEC funding. This means many of our foundation skills and community education courses are free or subsidised for eligible learners. Contact us to find out which programmes you or your community may qualify for.
